Please welcome today, a fabulous scrapbooker and crafter, Katie!

Hello Scrappy Gift Readers!
I'm Katie from Katie's Nesting Spot and it's such a thrill and honor to be a guest on Maryanne's blog. I always enjoy being inspired by her creative scrapbook pages and it's been so much fun connecting with other paper enthusiasts through Scrappy Saturdays and Maryanne's online crops. I'm even sponsoring one of the giveaways for September's crop so I hope to see you there! Let's start with a little bit about myself. I'm a former kindergarten and special education teacher, turned SAHM, who loves crafting of all sorts. Scrapbooking is definitely my favorite though; I especially like making mini books.
Besides all my creative endeavors, I also share the learning activities I do with my daughter, product reviews - I especially like doing them for kid's stuff, and giveaways on my blog. As if all that doesn't keep my busy enough, I also am a co-founder of ABC &123: A Learning Cooperative. It's a place parents and educators can find and share educational activities. Plus I'm really excited to let you know I just became part of my first design team at Adori Graphics!
Today I'd like to share three of my favorite projects:
Like I mentioned before, I am a big memory keeping enthusiast. This altered box and photo album set I made my mom is both a cute and meaningful gift. I repurposed an old game box and created this collage on the outside and a mini layout on the inside. It holds a photobook that my mom added a monthly picture of her first grandchild for the first year. There is also enough room for a few more small keepsakes, like an invitation for the "Meet the Baby" party my mom hosted. It gives her someplace special to display and keep all these things.
One year I made a special "card" for my brother that doubles as a mini book. It's made out of brown paper bags with lots of pockets to tuck tags and other fun stuff, like a gift card for his birthday. Unlike most other paper bag books I've made, this opens up into a + shape. You can see more pictures of this paper bag mini book and card on my blog. The exploding card I made my Dad is another creative way to turn a card into a gift card holder and keepsake. Something I frequently make are decoupaged frames. These are so easy to personalize for your recipient and are a quick project. This Simple Things frame is a personal favorite, and one of the few frames I've kept for myself. It combines my favorite colors, has a bit of bling, and is very girly. I enjoy seeing it every day in my office.
Thanks again Maryanne, for inviting me to do a guest post! I hope you've all enjoyed seeing some of my favorite "scrappy gifts" and that you'll join me on Katie's Nesting Spot for a lot more and my new craft party A Crafty Soiree on Thursdays!
Congrats on being part of a design team, Katie. You sure keep busy like I try to do. What fabulous creations she has shared with us! What great gift ideas too. I especially love that cute frame; everything just goes together so beautifully.
As she stated, Katie has even donated a prize for this weekend's September Online Crop over at my Blog Frog Community. Thanks so much Katie!
