Guest Post - Dawn's Craft Place

Today, please welcome, Dawn a creative scrapbooker and crafter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is Dawn, from Dawn's Craft Place and I am here today at Scrappy Gifts as a guest today. I was so excited to be asked and really thought about what I could share. I am new to paper crafts and blogging, almost three years at crafting and just had my first anniversary the end of March for one year blogging.
I am a really big scrapbook maker, love my layouts! But, I must admit my favorite gifts to give are my unusual scrapbook ideas.
                                   Here are a couple examples of a unique album I made.
Today I am going to share a quick tutorial to put together a unique album anyone can make.
I started with a small wooden shadow box I picked up at the Dollar store.
The next  few steps were pretty simple...I used Gesso to put a base coat on the box, as you can see I wasn't very neat just got a coat on and let it dry.You could also use paint if you have that. What is a project without some distressing? Of course I used Tim Holtz inks to dirty up or give the aged look.
That paper clip is just a great way to hold my sponge pieces so my fingers are not filthy and then I keep one for each color.
I decided to use a little foam to give some of my pieces some dimension.I used Mod Podge to attach the foam and to add some shine to the embellished paper. Are you still with me here?
I chose some of my favorite Graphic 45 paper and cut out a few squares and then pulled out an old aged paper pack I ripped out of a journal. These are great for books and projects and cheap if you find them on clearance and don't like the covers.
I cut strips that would fit into the square boxes, and accordion folded them so I could add the scrapbook things I wanted to personalize.
Here is what I made , I showed the pages open and might...might I say give this as a gift or keep for myself. I will use plain stickers cut out with  a punch to put stories or journaling on the empty pages.
I also used trinkets from my stash and supplies , such as: coins, stickers  ribbon, flowers, fabric, and tulle.
So what do you think of my mini scrapbook album?
Hope you enjoyed my quick tutorial, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to leave a comment or contact me through my homepage.
A big thank you to  Maryanne for allowing me to guest post today at Scrappy Gifts. I am really honored.
